February
10, 1998 was the date of a severe fire which
demolished the Whalers Wharf shops and the Crown and Anchor Inn.
Both have been rebuilt and opened this year, 2000. Whalers Wharf is now a
three-level shopping mall (not quite completed as of October
2000). As part of the new mall, one can see the film
"There That Night," the true story of Provincetown's
Great Fire of 1998, being featured in a 71-seat cinema with
continuous showings, and accounts by firefighters who fought the
blaze. Also on exhibit are artifacts from the history of
firefighting.

I've bought a number of her T-shirts which are very well done and
definitely a cut above the usual souvenir T-shirts.
Below two photos are of one of the houses that
originally was located in the village of Long Point on the tip of
Cape Cod. These homes were used primarily by the fishermen
and their families. It was decided by a number of residents
to move their homes into Provincetown since the weather on this
strip of land was very harsh. Homes were put on
barges and brought into Provincetown. Each of the homes has
a tile as shown below.
Since this trip was just prior to Halloween, many of the
shops and homes were decorated for this event.
