Biking in the Lake George Region

Bolton Downhill Bicycles, by John Gaddy

Excellent biking opportunities abound in the Lake George Region.  Both road bikers and mountain bikers relish the beautiful scenery, variety of routes, and low traffic backrooms just outside of Lake George Village.

To the south of the Village the Warren County Bikeway begins on Beach Road in the Village of Lake George and leads south to Glen Falls.  In Glens Falls you can connect with the Feeder Canal Trail.

To the North, the Schroon River Valley offers picturesque flat roads along both sides of he Schroon River.

At Exit 24 for Bolton Landing is a parking area and the Schroon River Road, head north which offers excellent access to a flat road loop that circles around Brant Lake.

For those looking for more information on specific biking information, consult the Adirondack Park Mountain Bike Trail and Route Listing published by the Adirondack Mountain Club or stop in or call Bolton Downhill Bicycle Rentals in Bolton Landing at the Lake George Kayak Company, Tel:  (518) 644-2775.

Prior photos are along the bike path to Glens Falls.  Next sequence of photos in Lake George.
This is definitely a NO, NO.

The Lake George Steamboat Company's boats have been carrying passengers on Lake George since 1817.  The Mohican has been in operation for 93 years.

I took the 18th Century Historic Battle Tour on the Mohican (93 years old and both the oldest passenger ship on Lake George and the longest continually running passenger ship in the country), which is a bus tour combined with the Discovery Cruise:

Discovery Cruise:  Discover all 32 miles of the Queen of American Lakes on the only complete tour of Lake George.

  • Mountain wilderness, beautiful islands, historic mansions
  • Captain's narration fully describes the geological formation of the basin, the early Indian settlements, the military history and the lake's present ecological balance

Departs Lake George - 9:00 am
Arrives Bolton Landing - 9:40 am
Arrives Ticonderoga - 11:30 am
Returns Lake George - approx. 1:45 pm

18th Century Historic Battle Tour (I signed up for this all-day tour which I felt was excellent.)

Narrated bus tour along the Lake's shore plus a guided tour at Fort Ticonderoga plus The Mohican Discovery Cruise.  Also, afternoon visit to Whitehall, NY, the Birthplace of the American Navy, Skenesborough Museum.

Bus departs Lake George Village at 8:30 am
