OPTIONAL RIDES

Below  I am listing some of the optional rides which a number of those in our group did, including one century.  For me and a couple of the other gals, we had sufficient miles to want to enjoy the area.  I am planning to return to Canada with my camper next year, spending one week in Montreal and the second week in Quebec, at which time I will do a couple of these rides.

All these rides start from the school in Levis where we camped for three days - Cege de Levis Lauzon Junior High School.  As of 2002, if you take your bike across the St. Lawrence on the ferry from Levis to Quebec, buy a ticket at the booth in the car lane ($1.50) and ride onto the ferry.  There are bike racks on the ferry.  When you depart the ferry in Quebec, turn right to get to the main street and then turn right onto the street to begin all the north shore routes (the falls and Isle d'Orleans).

Ile d'Orleans - 64 miles

The bridge to the island is quite dangerous.  The sidewalks are rough and the bridge vibrates with traffic and wind (not to mention it is very high!)

Distance Description

As you leave the Levis to Quebec City ferry, take a hard right and follow the short bike path to the main street.  Follow the main street to the third light.
.37 Stop light, main street turns left, you go straight.
.45 Turn left onto bike path.  Watch for arrows as this is both a walkway and bike path and can be difficult to spot.
