Massachusetts Bay Road Club's Pilgrim Tour

This year, June 9, 2002
Starts at Plymouth Rock, Plymouth, MA
Return by Tour Boat
Sag Wagon Supplied - NO REPAIRS

Rules of the Ride:

  1. Sag wagon departs Plymouth Rock at 8:00 am

  2. Sag wagon arrives P'town around noon

  3. No mechanics on board.  You are responsible for own repairs / tires / tubes

  4. In case of emergency, wait and watch for Sag in safe and visible place.  Call Paul at 617-212-6795

  5. Walk your bicycle on left side of Sagamore Bridge

  6. Use extreme caution crossing railroad tracks on Route 6A

  7. Check in upon arrival at Arnold's Bike Shop

  8. Ferry leaves at 4:30 pm SHARP.  Be at pier with your bike by 4:00 pm

This was the third time I've done this ride, and it's really great.  We had relatively good weather - fairly cool and somewhat overcast, so it wasn't too hot for riding.  I am enclosing the directions as given to me at the starting point in case you'd like to do it on your own or would like to sign up with MBRC for their trip next year.  Please note that from the 12.8 mile to the 15.9 mile point you may have to ask directions to the Sagamore Bridge - I did twice.  I took very few pictures since I was too intent on getting my butt (and the rest of me) to Provincetown by 4:00 to get the ferry back to Plymouth again (I checked in at 2:45 p.m., there was a fairly strong headwind the last ten miles).  In the past the club sponsoring this ride has chartered one of the Captain John and Son's boats.  Fewer people have signed up each year, so this year rather than charter a whole ferry, the number was limited to 60 and we were taken back by the regular ferry line.
