The Homestead Inn (presently a Bed and Breakfast featuring country fare) is one of the oldest family operated inns remaining in America today.   It was built in 1802 and in 1898 expanded to approximately its present size to accommodate "city boarders."  One of The Homestead's most unique attributes is having been handed down through seven descending generations of the same family, an unbroken chain linking America of the 1700s and America today.
