Wellfleet Flea Market:

Open April 15 through the fall (into November, weather dependent) every Saturday and Sunday.  During July and August the flea market is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well.  Whatever day you choose you will find a large number of vendors and end up with some great buys.

The flea market is about 22 miles from Coastal Acres Campground in Provincetown.  I cycle from P'town to the flea market once during my week's stay, leaving early in the morning (6:00 a.m.).  At this time, it's a very pleasant and cool ride without too much traffic.   I can leisurely wander through the flea market and still get back to P'town around noon.  Riding back along Route 6 can be a challenge with all the traffic.  Also on a sunny day, there is little shade while cycling.  After leaving the flea market, I detour through Maurice's Campground, picking up the Cape Cod Rail Trail for its last few miles before having to return to Route 6.  There are a number of very good restaurants for lunch on the way back, including a couple with direct access to the Rail Trail.  Another option is stopping here while doing the Cape Cod Rail Trail.  I did this during my trip here in the fall - camped at Nickerson and stopped here on my way back.

The next few photos were taken during my fall trip.  Beth sets up at the flea market most weekends.  She can also be reached at the following numbers:  (508) 349-9187; winter at (508) 349-1354.  Her crafted furniture is beautifully done, many in the fine tradition of Peter Hunt, famous Cape Cod folk artist.
