The Susan B, Terry's hybrid
(Terry Classic touring bikes have a 24" front wheel
and a 27" back wheel configured for a woman's shorter reach. I have an earlier
Classic with which I've completed one Century and an 86 mile day trip from Plymouth, MA to
Provincetown, MA. Bicycle performed beautifully - not even a flat tire!)

The Second
Woman's Bike, 1985
Enter Georgena Terry, mechanical engineer by day, bike builder by night. Georgena
recognized the problems inherent in modern diamond-style bicycle frames (female friends
had long complained of back, shoulder and neck pain). Her revolutionary solution was the
Terry bicycles - the only bicycle built around the premise that what matters isn't wheel
size or weight, but how the bike fits. Today, if you ask Georgena what inspires and
motivates her, she's quick to answer, "I want people to have fun cycling." We
know if you're comfortable, you'll be able to ride further, ride stronger and have more
fun. We see it and hear it every day, whether it's the increase in enthusiasm and laughter
around the office after a group ride, or calls from customers who shocked themselves by
being able to keep up, finish a century or are healthier and happier than ever because of
all the riding they're doing.
And for those who are curious, yes, men do work at Terry, and no, we are not raving
feminists and man-haters.
